Format
New for Spring Season 2025: A Fresh Racing Format Full of Thrills!
SEEDING STAGE
The season kicks off with the Seeding Stage. Contested over 3 rounds of the familiar Knockout format, where all 12 teams battle it out to earn points to determine their starting positions for the upcoming Group Stage.
These initial rounds are crucial — strong performances here will give teams a valuable head start on their path to Esports World Cup 2025.
GROUP STAGE
Once the seeding stage is complete, teams are split up into 4 groups of 3 teams each. The top 3 teams enter Group A, the next 3 into Group B, and so on. In the group stage, each team will put their 4 drivers against the other 2 teams in their group, with promotion (and demotion) on the line.
Each round, drivers earn points for their team across multiple races. When the dust settles, the team with the most points is promoted to the group above, whilst the team with the fewest points is demoted to the group below.
Across 5 rounds teams will compete in the group stage, earning points as they go, to qualify for the Major at Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh.
The winning team in Group A in Round 8 automatically earns their place at the Major. Conversely, the worst performing team in Group D in Round 8 will be eliminated from the R1 2025 Spring Season.
From there, we take a look at the overall points standings from across the 8 rounds of the Spring Season. The top 2 teams gain qualification to the Major, the bottom 2 teams are eliminated.
The remaining 6 teams aren’t out yet — but they’ll have to fight for their place. These teams will head to the Last Chance Qualifier, held on-site at the Esports World Cup 2025 in Saudi Arabia, where they’ll compete for the final three available spots at the RENNSPORT R1 Major
